QuickLaunch* is probably one of the post popular apps for the Blackberry devices. In this tutorial I will teach you how to add this as a hotkey. However, you can also follow this tutorial to create a hotkey for any third party app!
*QuickLauch in not a free app.
We did a tutorial on how to add a hotkey in composer for the core icons… this is different – third party apps!
Step One
- You want to look for QuickLaunch, or the third party app you want to add as a hotkey. Here is what to do…
- Go to the Options icon on your phone.
- Click on Applications (OS5.0) or go to advanced options then Applications (OS4.7 and below).
- Find the app you want to add and click it.
- You will now see Modules. For QuickLaunch the module is named – well – QuickLaunch. For those who have the Gmail App, this module name is GoogleMail. For an application like AIM, there are a lot of modules. Use the first one which is named net_rim_bb_qm_aim. Hopefully you get that now…
Moving on.
Step Two
Now that you know the module name for the app you want to add, open up composer and choose your device type.

Type in the module name from Step One. In this case I have added QuickLaunch.

Step Six
Now, if you want to press the SpaceBar so it pulls up your app, press OK. If you want to press any other button on your Blackberry to open the device do the following…
Press the Next Key Typed button and press the button you want to activate your App.

Press OK and you are now finished. Hit ALT-G to save it as a SVG and import it into theme builder!
